The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will introduce customized SIM cards for candidates during the 2025 UTME registration. This move aims to address issues like SIM theft or loss.
JAMB announced in its Weekly Bulletin that the customized SIM cards, developed in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will be available next year. These SIM cards will have enhanced security features, be specifically designed for UTME registration, and will only be accessible to parents. They will also be valid for five years.
Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, shared these details during a visit from the West Africa Civil Societies Forum (WACSOF). He expressed confidence that the customized SIM cards will solve many problems faced during the registration process. Oloyede assured that JAMB is committed to improving the UTME registration experience and making it more user-friendly by using advanced technology.
During the 2024 UTME, many candidates had trouble registering due to SIM card changes, and some couldn’t access their results after losing their registered SIM cards. To prevent these issues, JAMB has arranged to partner with the NCC to issue customized SIM cards for UTME registration.
