COVID-19: Schools Shut Down in Edo State

In reaction to the corona virus pandemic (COVI- 19), the Edo State government has directed all schools in the state to be shut down on Monday, 23 of march 2020.

In an official statement, the government stated that all primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state are to be closed.

Secretary to the state government, Osarodion Ogie Esq in a statement call on citizens and residents not to panic “We  advise the people of Edo State to adhere to recommended hygiene instructions on frequent  hand-washing and use of alcohol based sanitizers as well as guidelines on social distancing “

As part of preventive measures against the spread of the corona virus, other states like Anambra, Niger, Benue, Lagos and Enugu had earlier shut down schools in their states, while the North West governors have also shut down schools for thirty days.

Nigeria has recorded five new cases of COVI- 19, bringing the total number to thirty-five.
