Over 100 students from universities and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones have benefited from the inaugural scholarship program by the SOHCAHTOA Foundation.
This initiative, aimed at promoting educational growth in Nigeria and Africa, received 18,000 applications, from which the scholarship recipients were carefully chosen.
Speaking on the program, co-founder of the foundation, Mrs. Solape Fayemi, stated, “This year marks the first edition of the scholarship, and we are excited to have 100 beneficiaries selected from over 18,000 applicants across six geopolitical zones. We look forward to expanding this impact in the coming academic year.” She explained that each scholarship recipient would receive N250,000 annually toward tuition fees for the duration of their studies. She further emphasized the foundation’s commitment to helping young people achieve their dreams and contribute positively to their communities.
“We’ve expanded the scholarship this year, understanding the economic challenges that many parents face in supporting their children’s education. We want to create a brighter future for these students and hope to positively impact their families’ stories,” Mrs. Fayemi added.
She called on private organizations to support societal progress, stating, “The government alone cannot do it. Let’s use our resources to positively impact our communities.”
According to the report, recipients must maintain good grades and provide their results each session to renew the scholarship award.
