Mercy Chinwo and husband offer full scholarships to 100 UNICAL students from her foundation "Mercyisblessed"

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa, have awarded full scholarships to 100 University of Calabar (UNICAL) students through their ‘Mercyisblessed’ Foundation. The announcement was made during their visit to the university on Friday, July 12, 2024. The scholarship will cover the full payment of school fees and additional support to ensure a stable learning environment for deserving and talented students.
“The criteria for selection and other details for shortlisting eligible candidates will be communicated through appropriate channels. The scholarship takes effect immediately,” the statement read.
This philanthropic effort is not the couple’s first in 2024. In April, they also provided scholarships to 50 undergraduates at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) through their foundation and in honor of their son, Charis. Mercy Chinwo emphasized that this scholarship is a way to give back to the community that shaped her.
“Port Harcourt is home to me. The memories of a city where I dared to dream and hoped for a purposeful life are still fresh. I thank the Lord for His work in and through me so far. This scholarship aims to inspire students to believe that their dreams and ambitions are valid and to remind them that there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’,” she said.
