Over 60,000 register for student loan in one week — NELFUND

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that over 60,000 students from Federal Government institutions have registered for the student loan program since the portal officially opened last Friday.

In an update delivered at a post-application launch press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Akintunde Sawyerr revealed that the portal will be available for students of state-owned tertiary institutions starting June 25, 2024.

NELFUND has called on state institutions to begin submitting their students’ data for processing. Sawyerr reported that 30,000 applications have already been successfully processed.

The fund noted that 90 percent of federal universities have submitted their students’ data to its dashboard, with the remaining 10 percent yet to comply.
