LASG seeks equal opportunities for pupils in low-fee-paying schools
No Child Left Behind: LASRRA, SEED Foundation Push for Inclusive Education in Lagos
Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, General Manager of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), emphasized the importance of registering pupils in low-fee private schools to ensure that all Lagos residents are accurately counted and represented in government planning for enhanced access to essential services.
Speaking at the official relaunch and inaugural conference of the SEED-LASRRA Partnership, themed “No Child Left Behind,” held at NECA House Events Centre, Ikeja, Adebiyi-Abiola noted, “With a growing population and diverse educational landscape, these pupils are often underrepresented in official data. Registering them will improve educational planning and foster community development, creating a sense of belonging among pupils and their families, and encouraging civic engagement and community participation.”
Olanrewaju Oniyitan, Founder and Executive Director of SEED Care & Support Foundation, highlighted the need for inclusive education, asserting that no child should be denied their fundamental rights based on socioeconomic status, gender, or age. “Education unlocks opportunities and is one of the most impactful investments one can make,” she said.
Oniyitan also called for collaboration among organizations and institutions, encouraging them to join the foundation’s mission to expand access to education. “This is a mandate, not just a vision. LASRRA’s initiatives can align with our foundation’s goals, enabling cohesive planning and the effective execution of programs aimed at advancing educational and economic outcomes. LASRRA’s expertise in data management, service accessibility, community engagement, policy alignment, and evaluation will support the foundation’s mission to promote sustainable education and economic growth,” she concluded.
The event also featured a documentary screening that shed light on the challenges faced by children and families in underserved communities.
