Tragedy struck in Ugheli North Local Government area of Delta State when a teacher in one of the government-owned school slumped and die after she receive the news of her husband testing positive to COVID-19.
Report gathered that the victim which identity has not been disclosed has been suffering from high blood pressure over the years, it is suspected this may have triggered her death upon hearing her husband has tested positive to COVID-19.
Confirming the incident, neighbor of the victim revealed that the woman died last Monday and has been deposited in a morgue, while the children have been placed on self isolation.
One of the neighbor who spoke to reporters but pleaded anonymity said “We were at home when we heard screams from their compound. Upon our enquiry, we were told that she slumped and was confirmed dead after receiving news of her husband testing positive to COVID-19.”
Information gathered from the of Ugheli North Local Government Council disclosed that officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has begun contact tracing as the council continue to enforce strict measures towards enforcing mandatory use of face masks, physical distancing and other COVID-19 measures to avert an escalation of the virus.
