TETFund's Transformative Leadership Sparks a New Era in Nigerian Tertiary Education

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), under the leadership of Executive Secretary Sonny Echono, has made significant strides in transforming Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. The Tinubu administration aims to overhaul the education system, focusing on tertiary education, which has suffered from poor infrastructure and funding. TETFund’s efforts have been recognized both locally and internationally, including receiving the Africa Leadership Excellence Award in Educational Development and the 2024 Anthology Visionary Award for Leadership in technology integration.
Echono’s leadership has introduced reforms that have revitalized confidence in TETFund, particularly in research and technology-driven education. Notable initiatives include Research for Impact (R4i) and TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research (TETFAIR), which have produced several innovative prototypes. Echono emphasized the importance of strategic policies to unlock Africa’s potential at the 9th Africa Leadership Magazine Summit in London.
