Tinubu Announces 30-Day National Youth Conference to Address Unemployment, Social Justice, and Education
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a 30-day National Youth Conference to tackle key issues affecting Nigerian youth, including unemployment, social justice, education, and other pressing challenges. Speaking during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary celebration at the State House, Tinubu emphasized that youth representatives would be consulted to determine the conference’s structure and delegate selection process.
He highlighted his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, citing the “3 Million Technical Talents Programme (3MTT)” spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. This initiative aims to develop Nigeria’s technical talent pool and enhance opportunities for young people.
“I am pleased to announce the convening of a National Youth Conference, which will serve as a platform for addressing the diverse challenges and opportunities facing our young people, who make up over 60 percent of our population,” said Tinubu. “This 30-day Confab will bring together youth from across the nation to collaborate on solutions for critical areas such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice.
“We will work closely with youth representatives to ensure their voices guide the structure of this conference, and the government is committed to considering and implementing the recommendations that arise. This effort aligns with our broader mission to create an inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria,” Tinubu added.
He also reaffirmed that the administration is rolling out various youth-centric programs to ensure they thrive in a rapidly evolving world, particularly through initiatives like the 3MTT to build a strong technical workforce.
