Ayobami Suberu, the Branch Controller of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) for Ogun State, has dismissed claims from an online media report alleging that the results of some public school students in the state were withheld due to the state government’s indebtedness.
In a statement issued by Lekan Adeniran, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun State Governor, Suberu addressed the media on Tuesday to clarify the situation. He called the report “mischievous and unbalanced,” stating that the Ogun State Government is not in debt to WAEC. Suberu explained that the delay in releasing the results was caused by a technical issue, which is currently being resolved.
He further assured that ongoing communication with the Head of the Test Administration Division of WAEC would ensure a prompt resolution. Suberu reiterated, “Ogun State is not owing WAEC a dime.” He added that a senior official from the Ogun State Ministry of Education had contacted him about the report, and he had clarified that there was no truth to the claims of indebtedness.
