Yaba College of Technology Matriculates 8,202 Students for 2023/2024 Academic Session

Yaba College of Technology( YABATECH) recently matriculated a total of 8,202 candidates admitted for the 2023/2024 academic session. These students will be pursuing various full-time courses offered by the institution. This figure represents a selection from the 21,530 candidates who applied for admission.

The Rector, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, shared these statistics during his address at the matriculation ceremony. He noted that 1,335 candidates applied for the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Ed) Education programs in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but only 507 were offered admission into the School of Technical Education. For the Higher National Diploma (HND) programs, 5,685 candidates applied, while 3,342 were admitted. At the National Diploma (ND) level, 14,510 candidates applied, and 4,353 were admitted after successfully passing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by JAMB and further screening by the College.

Dr. Abdul emphasized the importance of attendance, stating that 75% lecture attendance is a prerequisite for students to qualify to write examinations at the end of the semester.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor ‘Funso Isolaowa Afolabi, urged the new students to make full use of the resources available to them, engage in academic and extracurricular activities, and embrace the values of integrity, respect, and responsibility. He encouraged them to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and to uphold the College’s vision of excellence, inclusivity, and innovation.

Professor Afolabi also commended the parents and guardians for their support and belief in their children, urging them to continue to guide their wards as they embark on this significant educational journey.
