WAEC RELEASES 2021 WASSCE RESULTS

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Monday released the results of candidates who sat for the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Nigeria.

This was made known by the Head of the Nigeria National Office of the Council Mr. Patrick Areghan in a press briefing. made the announcement during a press briefing.

He said, ”Candidates can visit the WAEC Direct Online website to check their result.”

Areghan further disclosed that the percentage of candidates who obtained credit and above in a minimum of five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, was 65.24%, said there is an appreciable 16.46% improvement in performance in this regard.

He added that the results of 170,146 candidates, representing 10.9% of the total number of candidates who sat the examination, are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.

WAEC has now asked candidates should check their results through its website using the checker PIN on their smart identity cards used for the examination.

It would be recall that a total of 1.22 million (1,221,447) people registered for the 2020 WASSCE examination. These include 665,830 males and 555,617 females.

However, 1.21 million (1,209,992) – 659,796 males representing 54.53 per cent and 550,126 females representing 45.46 per cent – actually wrote the exams, with 160 Special Needs candidates registering for the exam.

However, the examination body confirmed that over 30,000 candidates that sat for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 2020, were involved in one examination malpractices.
