Ekiti State Government Reopen Schools in Phases

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fyemi on Tuesday revealed the plans of the State Government to reopen schools in the state with effect from July 20. Fayemi who made the revelation in a statewide broadcast yesterday said,

” Effort are now on top gear to ensure our children return to school from July 20, 2020, as recommended by the interface between the Ministry of Education and all stakeholders in the education sector.”

The governor added that the resumption of schools would be in phases, which will begin with pupils in graduating/exit classes(Primary six, JSS3, SS3), these category of students would return to school to enable them prepare for their examinations.

He said” other classes will be gradually absorbed as schools meet all requirements to accommodate them safely and responsibly.”

He stressed that a certificate of Readiness showing that a school has adhered to all conditions required for reopening will be issued to all schools before they can reopen while government will ensure that sanitizer, soap and other facilities are in place.

The Governor also stated that he had directed all schools to be fumigated and kept safe for students before they reopen.

The July 20 school resumption date in Ekiti State is for both public and private primary and secondary school students for third term 2019/2020 academic session.
