JAMB Releases Additional UTME Results and Debunks Fraudulent Claims

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of additional results for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Public Communication Advisor of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, announced in a statement issued on the night of 14th of May 2024.

In his statement, Dr. Benjamin also addressed a fraudulent letter circulating on social media. The letter, falsely claiming to be from JAMB, alleged that the remaining 2024 UTME results had been compromised due to a cyber security breach and that the Board was considering rescheduling the examination. Dr. Benjamin categorically denied these claims, stating, “This is far from the truth as the said letter did not emanate from the Board. Taking a closer look at the letter, which was not signed by any person, lacked every detail of a letter from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.”

He emphasized that the letter was an attempt by fraudsters to undermine JAMB’s integrity and extort candidates. “The Board reiterated, for the umpteenth time, that the results of its 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other previous years are intact, not in any cloud storage can, therefore, not be hacked by anybody,” he added.

Dr. Benjamin recalled that some results from the 2024 UTME had been withheld for further investigation. Recently, 531 of these results were released, while others remain under scrutiny for potential examination misconduct. “At the end of this exercise, the Board would publish its findings,” he noted.

The JAMB spokesperson also urged the public to disregard misleading information from unofficial sources and expressed concern over comments from private institution functionaries who inappropriately linked JAMB to low cut-off marks. He clarified that minimum admissible scores are initially proposed by individual institutions and subsequently agreed upon during the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions, involving all Heads of Institutions across the country.

Furthermore, Dr. Benjamin advised religious organizations to refrain from making false representations about JAMB to the government, urging them to focus on their primary roles.

In summary, JAMB assures the public of the integrity and security of the UTME results and encourages vigilance against misinformation.
