NECO Fixes New Date for 2020 SSCE Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has fixed new dates for the 2020 SSCE examination for external candidates.

NECO made this known in a statement released by Head of Information and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani, on Tuesday, who said the decision was reached, following requests by candidates to be given more time to complete their registration process for the 2020 SSCE (External).

The statement said that the examination which was previously scheduled to commence on Monday 1st February 2021 and end on Wednesday 3rd March 2021 will now start on Monday, 8th February 2021 and end on Wednesday 10th March 2021.

“The Council hereby informs those candidates, who missed some papers during the 2020 SSCE (Internal) due to the #ENDSARS protests in some states, to take note of these new dates and report for the examination accordingly at their various examination centers.

“All candidates are advised to access the revised Examination Time Table on the Council’s website.

“All candidates, stakeholders, and the general public are to take note of the above information,” the statement said.

It would be recalled that EDUCARE NEWS had earlier reported that the National Examination Council (NECO) stated that 233,000 candidates, who as a result of the #EndSARS protest could not participate in the examinations, will join external candidates to write the examinations in February.

NECO’s Registrar, Prof. Godswill Obioma while announcing the 2020 results, said that 12 states were disrupted during the conduct of the examinations as a result of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the #EndSARS protests.
