NECO Releases Time Table for SSCE, BECE, Others

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released time table and guidelines for it forthcoming 2020 examination for Senior Secondary School Certificate that would be conducted for exit classes students.

The Registrar of NECO, Prof. Godswill Obioma during a press briefing on Tuesday announced the release of the time table, while stating that NECO SSCE would begin on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020.

In the meeting, that carries the theme; “Making the Conduct of Public Examinations Work in the COVID-19 Era” Obioma stated that NECO Basic Education Certificate Examination ( BECE) will hold between Monday, August 24 and September 4, while the National Common Entrance Examination for Junior Secondary School into the Federal Unity Colleges would hold on October 17.

He hinted that the BECE time table was compressed for it to terminate on the September 4, in order to reduce cost.

The NECO boss further explained that the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations will commence on September 21 and end on October 15.

“Other details of the schedule indicate that the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations for SS3, to be conducted by NECO will begin on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020.

In addition, NECO has scheduled the BECE (re-sit) to take place on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November 2020 for prescribed relevant subjects.

Obioma, added that, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for JSS3 students, also to be conducted by NECO, will start on August 24 and end on September 4.

The NECO Registrar also announced that special measures has been put in place for its forthcoming BECE, SSCE, and NCEE, while intimating that the measures will ensure appropriate standards and excellence before, during and after the examinations

The measures includes; the signing of an oath of allegiance by every candidates participating in the exams, while there will also be installation and use of special CCTV cameras in all examination centres.

The Federal Government had two weeks ago released a comprehensive schedule for various National Examinations for exit students in exit classes including Junior Secondary School (JSS3) and Senior Secondary School ( SSS3).
