An 100 level student of the Department of Microbiology in the University of Benin has been gang raped and clubbed to death by yet- to –be- identified persons in an incident that occurred on May 31, 2020
The 22year old Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa met her untimely death, inside the Ikpoba Hill branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God, in Benin City, Edo state, where she had gone to read, but her assailant took canal knowledge of her, with reports suggesting she was hit with a fire extinguisher after she was gang raped, and she died on May 31, 18 days after, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Ikpoba Hill branch of where the incident occurred was yesterday set ablaze by angry students of the university, while police are in search of the culprit but says no one is volunteering information that will lead to their arrest.
The government of Edo state has however, ordered police investigation into the death of the student.
