The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has hinted that its members are ready to end the seven months strike action, only when the Federal Government meet lecturers demands.
The Chairperson of ASUU, UNILORIN, prof. Moyo Ajao, at a press briefing with news men on Wednesday, stated that lecturers are ready to return to work, but insisted they won’t work on an empty stomach.
Prof. Ade Adejumo Ajao, who represented Ibadan Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, also added that lecturers will return to work when the government releases their withheld salaries, remit the check-off dues of the union to the rightful owner.
He said: “We are ready to suspend the strike as our children too are tired of staying at home, but we cannot work on empty stomachs while politicians’ homes and warehouses are filled with palliative materials that they don’t even need.
Recall that the Federal Government and the leadership of ASUU, met yesterday, but again, both parties failed to reach a resolution to a lingering strike that is threatening the academic future of the Nigeria students.
