Edo State Govt. Signs Pact to Establish University of Innovation

The Edo State Government has signed a deal with the Malaysian Government that will bring about the emergence of a University of Innovation in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, confirmed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian officials.

In a statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, which was made available to newsmen, the Governor stated that the MOU is part of the administration’s effort to bring more development into the state, to boost the Edo economy and better the lives of its people.

Obaseki said: “As I speak to you today, I have signed an MOU with a company in Malaysia  to bring a University of Innovation to Benin city. We are in discussion with one of the best schools in Malaysia and we have signed an MOU with them.

“The technology hub in ICE has been given to them as they are bringing a University of Innovation to Benin city to benefit our people.

“We have a lot of good things to do for the people  and you need to vote for the PDP in the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election to sustain the development across all sectors in the state.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government in June this year, commended Governor Obasekki, for his administration’s sustained investments in the state’s education sector. It noted that the Obaseki’s government’s intervention in the sector was responsible for the success of the Technical, Vocations Education and Training (TVET) programme in the state.
