Gov. Obaseki Hails Edo Versity For Accreditation

The Edo State Governor, Dr. Godwin Obaseki has commended the management of Edo University Iyamho (EUI) for the brilliant performance recorded by the University in the October/ November 2019 programme accreditation by the National University Commission (NUC) and the professional bodies.

The University was accredited for Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) programme, Nursing Science and the Medical Laboratory Science Programmes from NUC, with also, the MBBS pre-clinical accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Obaseki commended the University for the achievement within a short period of its establishment, while adding that it was in line with his administration policy on educational development.

Betcher Ekhosuhun, who is the Public Relation Officer of the University, in a statement, said that apart from Medicine, the institution also got full accreditation for Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration and Mass Communication.

The University earlier, had been given accreditation for programmes like Computer Science, Accounting, Economics, English, Biochemistry, History and International Studies and Political Science, among others.

He further attributed the good performance of the University to team work by members of staff, students, as well as support of Governor Obaseki.

Edo University, Iyamho is a state government –owned tertiary institution founded in 2016, the university is located Iyamho, a town in Etsako West local government area of Edo State, Nigeria.

On 23 March 2016, it was approved by the National Universities Commission as Nigeria’s 41st state university.G
