Legacy University Okija, Anambra State, has produced her first set of graduates and has mobilized them for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

The University, which started operations in 2017, has already mobilized graduated students for the NYSC program which started in July.

This was made known by the University’s Dean of Student Affairs, Mrs. Chinyere Ibe, in an exclusive chat with EDUCARE NEWS.

Mrs. Ibe, while confirming the development said: “Legacy University Okija graduated her first set of students early this year. The final exams were taken in February and the Senate approved their results on 10th March 2021. The students were mobilized for the NYSC program, and today, they are serving the country in different capacities. I am proud to say that in Legacy University Okija, students graduate in record time and are also mobilized for service with no delay. This stands us out from the rest.”

The question of whether Legacy University’s graduates are being mobilized for the program has already been answered.

. In her words; “Every student would want to go for the NYSC programme, People always ask if Legacy University enrolls its students in the NYSC scheme. Yes, we do. Our batch ‘A’ and batch ‘B’ corps members are already out of camp and are serving in different parts of the country while the ‘batch C’ are currently in different NYSC camps as we speak.”

The Dean of student Affairs further added, “This is a huge success in the school. We started immediately after our first graduates took their final exams. It did not take up to three months before we mobilized them for NYSC. It’s a great achievement for us because students in other schools are delayed for up to 6 months, 1 year, or even more before they are mobilized for NYSC. At Legacy University Okija, immediately our students graduate and are cleared, they are mobilized for the NYSC program.”

Our basketball team will be participating in their first competition with other universities. We also engage in football match competitions with different schools and with the Okija community as well. The records are available.”

The amiable administrator hinted at some innovations and development that are being been put in place to improve the standard of Legacy University Okija.

“In Mass Communication Department, we have set up our studios; we have been licensed and allotted a frequency to operate on and soon you will also be listening to Legacy University Radio all over the country.”

“We have our science laboratories which are well equipped and everything needed is there. Our state-of-the-art library aided our accreditation, and also the 12 courses we are running now have all been accredited. Therefore, I don’t think anybody should entertain any fear or doubt coming to Legacy University Okija.”
