The Oyo State Government on Tuesday, cancelled the 2019/2020 third term session, as the promotion of students into their next classes will now be based on their first and second term continuous assessment.
The State Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye made the announcement after the State Executive Council meeting in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The Commissioner confirmed that the Government has given approval for the academic calendar that will guide the resumption of school and other associated educational activities for the 2020/2021 session in the State.
According to the academic calendar released, Pry 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 students will proceed on holiday from July 30 and resume for the examination at a date that would be announced.
“Placement /screening test to JSS one – 20th August.
“Placement test into technical colleges – 28th August.
“The SSS 3 will resume for their examination as soon as WAEC announce the date.
He said the 2020/2021 academic session, as approved by the state council, is first term – 21st September to 18th December.
“Second term – 11th January to 9th April 2021.
“Third term – 3rd may to 3oth July 2021.
The Commissioner called on stakeholders and members of the public to take note of the details of the academic calendar.
It would be recalled that the Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde has said that schools in Oyo State could remain shut till July 15th, when the second term could resume and get concluded within two weeks, while the third term will immediately kick off.
