UNIBEN Announces Date for 2019/2020 Academic Session

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), has announced for its students, the resumption date for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic session.

In a statement released by the UNIBEN spokesperson, Benedicta Ehanire, the university stated that the 2019/2020 academic session will resume on January 30, while 2020/2021 will resume in April 2021.

The statement also urged the old and new students to comply with necessary COVID-19 protocols, including the use of face masks and maintaining social distancing.

Ehanire further added that the resolution was made after the meeting of the Senate on Sunday, January 3, 2020, adding that the new students are to undergo online clearance which will commence from April 5 to April 30, 2020.

The statement reads: “All returning students (old and new) are required to fill an online questionnaire and submit the printout to the Dean of Students before resumption.

“Adhere strictly to the non-medical protocols of compulsory use of face masks, hand sanitizers, and physical distancing.

“They are expected to comply with acceptable dress codes, as determined by the university, in line with societal norms and values. Returning students with any ailment are to ensure that they are properly treated before resumption.”

Recall that the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), instill a huge sigh of relief in students, lecturers and parents, when it suspended its nine-month-old strike action on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
