FG to Disinfect Schools

The federal government of Nigeria announced plans for the disinfection of contamination of schools across the country.

This was disclosed by the minister of Environment, Muhammed Mahmood during the Presidential Tax Force COVID-19 briefing in Abuja.

The government in its effort to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic revealed that it is initiating a programme of decontaminating and disinfecting schools nationwide.

The minister also stated that the Ministry of Environment is liaising with the Federal Ministry of Education to get the data of schools nationwide in order to carry out the exercise.

In his statement the Minister said’’ We are initiating a programme of decontaminating and disinfecting our schools before they open. Because subsequently in the phases(of relaxing lock-down), I believe we will get to that point when we start opening the schools.

“So, we will be liaising with the Fedreal Ministry of Education to make sure we have the needed data to carry out the exercise”.

Mahmood did not reveal the exact time the disinfection would commence, but he noted the Ministry of Environment has been making effort to begin the programme.

It would be recalled that despite the federal government relaxing the lock-down on Monday, May 4, Schools across the country have remained closed.
