LAUTECH Student Arrested For Impersonating GoodLuck Jonathan

A final year student,Babatunde Olushola, in the department of Chemical Engineering, at the Ladoka Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso was arrested and detained for 55 days for allegedly impersonating former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Report monitored on the twitter handle of Sahara reporters said he was charged with impersonation and detained at Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.

However, details of is whereabout is still not clear at the time of filing this reports.

Olushola, a 500 level student, had gone missing for weeks now, a situation that forced his friends to embark on a search mission for him.

One of his classmates, identify by the name Joshua, confirmed the development, and told reporters that weeks ago news broke out that he is out of sight.

He said some friends contacted him too, but all effort to reach him has been futile.

“Then, one of us said a friend told him that he’s fine, that he’s just not online. We all came at peace.

“But this afternoon, we saw the tweet that he’s been detained for 55 days,” the source said.

He further stated that he used GEJ as his AVI and display name, then responded to a tweet about the former First Lady. But on his profile, he made it clear the account is not that of GEJ’s.

Reports further gathered Olushola did not impersonate former president @GEJ Jonathhan, but he runs a parody account to engage on twitter, claiming that it is within his right and in accordance with twitter rules to do so.

“Exactly, parody accounts are a normal dealings here on Twitter, they have no evidence whatsoever that he defrauded anyone. This is absolutely injustice. #FreshShola.”

The management of LAUTECH cannot be reached for comment as at press time, but his friends and colleagues have taken to various twitter platforms to protest his release.
