Osun Governor Promises Support For Proposed College of Education
The Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, has promised to support the proposed Federal College of Education in Iwo and ensure its smooth take-off.
Oyetola while speaking at the Government House commended President Muhammadu Buhari for giving the state the opportunity of a proposed institution.
The Governor who was receiving members of the Technical Team of the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Commission for Colleges of Education stated that the establishment of more college of Education in the country would further contribute immensely to the development of vocational and technical education in Nigeria.
He said” Our State is particularly ready for this gesture; we see the institution as a very big gift. We have all it takes to ensure the take-off of the academic activities.”
The Director, of Tertiary Education, Ojo Joel Samuel, in his remarks said the team was in Osun to inspect the temporary and permanent sites of the proposed institution.
He added the visit was in fulfillment of the Federal Government commitment to promoting quality and functional education in the country.
He said”As a government we are doing everything possible to improve the quality of education in the country and ensure that the people have unfettered access to education.”
Recall the Federal Government had earlier in the year announced the location of the six newly approved college of Education, one in each of the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, with Osun; Bauchi; Benue; Ebonyi, , Sokoto, and Edo State listed amongst the beneficiaries.
